Ellen Page Shares Her Truth

February 15, 2013

If you haven't heard by now, "Juno" actress Ellen Page came out the closet as a proud lesbian woman. The Academy Award nominee made her announcement at a Las Vegas conference for LGBT teens. I’m here today because I am gay, and because maybe I can make a difference; to help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility." Although I think it is a great thing to own your "truth", I still never understood the purpose of "coming out". I strongly believe that in order to normalize something such as being gay in America, one must not make being gay a big deal that must be announced to the world. But on the other hand, Page's announcement may very well help out a gay teen who is struggling with their own sexuality. In 2007, Ellen Page became famous for being the breakout star of Juno, and would later star in such films as "Inception" and "Whip It".

Nicki Minaj sets social media ablaze!!

February 15, 2014

If you thought it was over for Nicki Minaj, you might be a Lil' Kim fan.... Ever since the "Super Base" rapper released her just under 3 minute video for her single, "Lookin Ass N*ggas", she has sent shockwaves throughout social media! The Trinidadian rapper ditched her pink wig and went for a very sexy, minimalist visual. While her sensual curves baited a lot of male viewers, her message sent a lot of them running for cover! Many listeners of the male persuasion made various negative comments, and some even tweeted anti - "lookin ass n*ggas" lyrics in response. Since the February 12th release, Trey Songz and Cassidy have given out their two cents on the matter. Will this song be the new "Marvin's Room" and get many artists to cover it? Only time will tell, but because of this song, I'm sure the battle of the sexes will never be the same.
